Global RFID Implementation - Factory to DC

CURRENT STATE
RFID Tags are imbedded into Deckers's product labels to meet the requirements of Wholesale & Retail stores’ to efficiently take inventory counts.

  • Factories perform an RFID scan into Baoshen database.

    • Disconnected from current PO management platform (Infor Nexus)

  • CH3 DC implemented RFID scans for inbound, outbound & returns

    • Data is retained within 3PL WMS

  • Deckers does not have a global RFID database

  • Deckers Retail Stores utilize RFID for Inventory management

  • Major US Customers require RFID tags on the product, but they do not require access to the individual EPCs

High Level Proposal

  • Scan RFID tags throughout the supply chain & retain the data in a SGTIN database

    • RFID Tag Activation

    • Factory PO association

      • <Proposed to do within Infor Nexus>

    • PO Receipt at Destination DC

    • SO Shipment from DC

    • Return Receipt

Benefits

  • Standardize RFID globally

    • Currently, regional DCs are all looking into RFID independently

  • Reduction in short shipments

  • Reduction in labor for inventory counts

  • Ability to identify "bad actors" within supply chain

    • Some partners divert product to markets that are not allowed, and an SGTIN database will help identify the perpetrators.

Known Costs

  • SGTIN Database

    • Enhanced Integrations to 3PL and Nexus

  • Physical Equipment for RFID Scan

    • Costs expected to be allocated to DC or Factory

Outcome Increased inventory accuracy, standardized processes, marketplace security, data integrity, item tracability
